Paxil is a drug which has been prescribed in great volume over the last several years in the United States. It is estimated to lie in the top hundred drugs prescribed in the entire country, and is clearly one of the leading drugs in the SSRI category. These are drugs which are used to treat a host of mental illnesses, most commonly depression, but also including a number of other disorders, including the spectrum of anxiety disorders and OCD.
The widespread use of the drug may begin to slow down though, as people become more and more aware of a number of the catastrophic Paxil side effects which have begun to draw the attention of the legal community.
